More Raw Material, anthology work inspired by Alan Sillitoe

Alan Sillitoe was many things: novelist, short story writer, memoirist, travel writer, essayist, playwright, poet. New anthology More Raw Material: work inspired by Alan Sillitoe, edited by Neil Fulwood and David Sillitoe (Lucifer Press, 2015) celebrates his creative diversity, the importance of his home town, and the spirit of his work.

The anthology pushes the focus beyond Nottingham, although it features contributors who have already made their own unique contribution to the East Midlands literary scene. There are personal reminiscences of Alan, and specific responses to his work; poetry and prose; photography and artwork.

Contributors include David Constantine (whose short story the critically successful British film 45 Years was based on), Paul McMahon (winner of this year's Keats-Shelley Poetry Prize), Neil Astley (founder of Bloodaxe Books), Brick (legendary satirical cartoonist), Harry Paterson (author of Look Back in Anger: the Miners' Strike in Nottingham), Joanne Limburg (author of A Want of Kindness), Rosie Garland (award-winning poet and novelist, author of The Palace of Curiosities), Carl Fellstrom (author of Hoods) and Jason Williamson (Sleaford Mods).

All proceeds from the sale of the anthology will go to the Alan Sillitoe Memorial Fund.
